Training Your PWD Puppy
Portuguese Water Dogs can be trained but you have to be quick thinking with this breed. Porties are very clever. As a puppy my dog Goji was responsive to dog treats so you could reward him with food if he did something on command. This breed is too clever for that human trick to last for long. Here’s what I did to start training and disciplining my standard PWD

They don’t shed and don’t have an undercoat. Ted Kennedy has three of them. Many Dalmations ended up in shelters after their increased popularity. The PWD’s are notorious for barking for attention. They need to know someone is in charge or they will take advantage. But they’re a lot of fun, have great senses of humor, and will liven up any household, including the Obama’s.
Spanish Water Dog
These are the first Spanish Water Dogs we’d ever seen nor heard of. Their names were Scooter and Rocket, and their owner builds boats in Sausalito California. This video is from January 2007
