If your dog has had the bad luck along with you of being sprayed by a Skunk your in for a smelly ride. Their are no known instant smell be gone postions or lotions for your dog. The first thing you should try to do if your dog has been sprayed by a Skunk is keep them outside to wash them off if it isn’t to cold out. The smell from a Skunk spraying is almost as bad as mase. If you have to wash your dog indoors try to open up some windows and do not let him on your sofa or rug you’ll want your dog to have a area that isn’t covered by rug a bare floors would be more ideal. You don’t want the odor from your dog getting into your couch or rug it won’t be easy to remove.

Now not to many people realize this but try not to use to warm or hot water when washing the skunk spray off your dog. The reason for this is 1. you don’t want to burn your dog and 2. warmer water or hot water opens the poors of your skin allowing some of that spray to litteraly get into yours and your dogs skin. Get your self alot of tomato juice but be very well aware it may not work. The best way to get that odor off of your dog is by multiple washings in a row. Always becareful when washing arround your dogs ears and eyes especaily when using home made postions to try to relieve the odor from your sprayed dog. Pending how badly your dog was sprayed may result in the amount of times they will need to be washed. My best advice would be use your normal dog shampoo on your dog and if you have any lavender oil I would add a few drops to the dogs coat during the last washing on him. The bad news is most of the time it will take a few days for the odor to completelybe gone. The good news is after washing your dog multiple times they will by far smell alot better.

You never want to use products that are not 100% natural or made to be used on dogs. Do some research before using anything not made for your dog or ask a vet. Their may be some products out their advertising it will remove the odor of Skunk off of people but by far may not be good for your dog or may be toxic to them. There are even some foods we eat that also are not good for our dogs so check first as well before using different fruits, veggies, or perfumes to remove the odor.
