When you think about what your dog does all day, chances are the main activity of your pooch is sleeping. Most dogs spend 12, 14, 16 hours or more asleep every day. With that being said, man’s best friend deserves to have nice a dog bed to sleep in for all of the time they spend on their bed. After all, if you were a dog who slept that much, wouldn’t you really want a comfortable dog bed to sleep on?
Dog beds are not only a place to sleep for a dog, but it also is a space in the home that they think of as a safe zone. Animals look for a spot where they feel safe, a space that's all their own. That's a role dog beds often fill. Their dog beds are a space they can go to and feel secure with themselves and with their surroundings. This is an especially important place if you spend a lot of time away from your home, and your dog is by himself.
The ideal dog beds you can get for your pet would be dog beds that are hypoallergenic. Believe it or not, dogs are much like humans when it comes to reacting to their surroundings, and they too can have allergies. Finding hypoallergenic dog beds for your pets can save a lot of miserable pet time and vet bills trying to help them through their allergic reactions.
Another important feature to consider when shopping for dog beds is how well they hold their shape. Many dog beds are nice and fluffy when you first get them, but if they're not made well, all that stuffing will lose its shape and shift around, not necessarily giving your pet a great sleeping surface.
Dog beds need to be easy to clean and maintain as well. While we would all like to have a perfectly clean, great smelling dog, that is rarely the case. That is why doggie shampoo was invented. But, unless you have simple to clean dog beds you can give your dogs all the baths you want, they’re going to go right back to the smelly bed, and they'll become smelly all over again.
Dog beds take on a variety of looks. For the simple look, dog beds can be large pillows that give the pet a comfortable place to sleep. If you like to really lavish your pooch, there are dog beds in a variety of shapes and sizes, some that even look like a four-poster human bed.
When selecting dog beds for your pets, make sure you also think about the size of the dogs before you decide on the size of the dog beds. The two should be proportional. You don’t want a giant bed for a little dog. They may feel lost in it. And you don’t want to get to small a bed for your Great Dane and make it try to curl up tight to fit. Once you find the right dog bed both you and your dog will be happy and comfortable.
