Cosmetics for the typical man

Physcian's Formula Organic Wear Bronzer

The typical males that I know, do not want to have a conversation about using “cosmetics” as part of a grooming regimen. The typical males I know, will not ask directions when he is lost and won’t go to a Doctorunless he is forced, and besides, cosmetics are for girls! Good luck with that one.

The facts are that the men’s cosmetic industry is doing very well. In 2005 the industry was at $29.7 billion dollars and is expected to grown at a rate of more than two percent per year over the next few years. Sales figures do not lie; men are taking to cosmetics more than many of us think. http://www.cosmeticsdesign.co m/Products-Markets/Niche-male- cosmetics-market-on-the-rise

Marketing products to the consumer is a specialized field with very savvy marketers. Past history of the cosmetics industry for males were driven primarily by the entertainment and film industry. Today, we’d be tempted to believe that metro-sexual males drive the industry, but the largest group of consumers are senior citizens who are most responsible for the growth.

To get around the marketing hurdle, you don’t call the products “cosmetics,” you give them new names such as corrective products, skin care, or grooming products for men.

What kind of products are available for men? The standard skin care products like cleansers, scrubs, toning lotions, and shaving lotions are still in high demand along with men’s colognes and soaps. In addition there are full lines of products to enhance appearance some of which bear striking resemblance to women’s cosmetics.

Women’s make-up bags typically contain items such as like eye make-up, skin concealer, foundation make-up, and blushes. All these products are now available for the man in your life, if he’s so inclined to try them. To be on the safe side, you should request that he purchase his own cosmetics bag so you can identify his and her make-up.

The following is a partial list of cosmetics that I found onlinethat are marketed for men. www.kenmen.net

Liquid foundation

Concealer/coverstick

Sunburn/blush powder

Sport & tone enhancer

Shine free bronzer

Face powder

Line treatment (for age lines)

Lash and brow gel

Eye brow pencils

Hi-lighters

Lip serum

If your husband wears any of the above products, you might be able to interchange products in some instances. It could save on cosmetics and make shopping more fun.

Over the years we’ve grown used to men dying their hair and using male fragrance in addition to the standard colognes and shaving lotions and we even encourage those products. There is nothing wrong with a man looking his best. I suppose it is not a giant stretch to get used to cosmetics.

I must admit however, that I wouldn’t feel comfortable dating a man who was prettier than I. You can call me old fashioned, outdated, or an old fogy, but I love the natural look of a man. I can do without the cosmetics. On the other hand, if the man is skillful at applying his corrective and enhancing products, no one need ever know.
